The Martins have embraced a data-driven approach to decision making, using regular grass measuring, liveweight recording and performance monitoring to maximise lamb production from home-grown forage. The evening will demonstrate how objective information can support better grazing decisions and improve flock efficiency.
Visitors will also hear how the Martins use high-index EBV rams within their commercial flock to accelerate genetic progress, alongside faecal egg counting and targeted parasite treatments to help slow the development of anthelmintic resistance. They will also discuss how agricultural students support the business during the busy lambing period.
The farm walk takes place on Thursday 9th July at 7.00 pm at Gordonall Farms, 93 Newtownards Road, Greyabbey, Co. Down, BT22 2QJ. Everyone is welcome to attend.
