Research results of real relevance to producers will be displayed and discussed on the AgriSearch stand at the Royal Ulster Winter Fair at the Eikon Complex, Balmoral Park Thursday, December 13th.
Research topics featured on the stand will include GrassCheck and Zero Grazing.
A comprehensive best practice guide for zero-grazing will be launched at the show. This booklet has been developed in conjunction with AFBI and AHDB and draws on the results of research undertaken at AFBI Hillsborough and SRUC’s Crichton Royal farm. The booklet discusses the pros and cons of zero grazing and outlines the practical steps farmers need to take to successfully implement a zero-grazing system. Copies of the booklet will be available for farmers to take away on the day.
The GrassCheck feature will highlight how the GrassCheck pilot farmers have made the best use of grass during a year which presented many challenges from a late and wet spring to severe moisture deficits in the summer.
The AgriSearch team and AFBI scientists will be welcoming visitors onto the stand throughout the day.
