AgriSearch will be in attendance at this year’s Royal Ulster Premier Beef & Lamb Championships on Tuesday 27th November 2018 at the Eikon Exhibition Centre, Balmoral Park.
The AgriSearch stand will feature research findings of relevance to all Northern Ireland beef and lamb producers. This will include “Beef from Grass” and “Lamb from Grass” which form part of GrassCheck. This project monitors grass growth on 48 commercial farms across the province.
RamCompare NI - Northern Ireland’s first commercial progeny test flock at AFBI, Hillsborough will also be featured. This project is currently in its second year and is testing the performance of progeny from terminal sires with high and low muscle estimated breeding values recorded on the Signet and Sheep Ireland systems.
The latest results of on-going beef grazing trials using Spring and Autumn born Holstein bulls undertaken at AFBI Hillsborough will also be presented.
Research updates will also be provided on other projects including suckler cow synchronisation, precision feeding technology in sheep and targeted sheep flock health and production planning.
The AgriSearch team and AFBI scientists will be welcoming visitors onto the stand throughout the day.
