On Wednesday 10th September AFBI will host an AgriSearch Beef Farm Walk at Large Park, Hillsborough, BT26 6DR. 

During the event AFBI researchers and members of CAFRE’s advisory team will present results from the ongoing research programmes funded through AgriSearch and DARD.  Visitors will have an opportunity to view the AFBI suckler herd which comprises both Stabiliser composite cows and Limousin cross Holstein cows and hear first hand how this suckler cow genotype comparison is progressing. 

Other presentations will include:

·         Rearing suckler heifers to calf at 24 months

·         Managing suckler cow condition score

·         Grassland management for beef production systems

·         Options for rearing and finishing dairy origin beef

Tours will commence at 15 minute intervals from 1.30 – 2.30 pm and from 5.30 - 6.30 pm and are expected to last 2 hours.  In the interests of bio security visitors are requested to wear clean clothes and footwear.
