AgriSearch BVD Leaflet available at AHWNI stand at Balmoral Show

Northern Ireland is now aiming to follow the example of Scandinavian and Central European nations in eradicating BVD, Bovine Viral Diarrhoea.

In time for Balmoral Show AgriSearch has produced a leaflet outlining the results of a DARD Research Challenge Fund study which ascertained the prevalence of BVD in Northern Ireland dairy and suckler herds.  The leaflet goes on to explain why farmers can save money by taking part in the NI voluntary BVD eradication programme launched in January, a year after similar schemes elsewhere in the British Isles.

BVD was costing beef and milk producers in the RoI almost £90 million per annum so their voluntary scheme has now become compulsory.

Copies of this new BVD leaflet are available at Balmoral Show on the Animal Health and Welfare NI stand in the Agri Pavilion or can be viewed by clicking here
